Grand-prix of the contest was 150 000 RUR worth vacation from Neva tour operator. The winner of Gb pursue contest in one week downloaded 419 Gb of traffic using his 3G modem. Twelve months ago it was even hard to imagine that such volume of traffic could be downloaded using mobile internet. For example, 400 Gb — approximately 400000 pictures, 400 movies or millions of e-mail letters.
«In general, the results of this campaign showed that Russia is going through actual technical revolution: more than 80% of population in the North-West region are covered by mobile internet access from MegaFon, many of them „download data“ not only in big cities: a user from Novgorod came second and a user from Yaroslavl came third in the above contest . The second and the third contender were really close to the winner. Internet has changed the approach to information access and it is fair to say now, that digital gap between city and province is in the past. Mobile Internet has changed workflow concept: you do not have to be in your office for the whole day as mobile Internet speed can be up to 21Mbps.
